Polysomnography Course
General Information: Polysomnography Course is held two times per year (Spring and Fall) conducted by the Sleep and Alertness Clinic.
Course Times: A total of 18 sessions course. The sessions are conducted on Saturdays (except holidays) from 10:00am to 03:00pm with an hour lunch break at 12pm.
CECs: Previous Program Sessions have been approved for 34 credits (hours) of Continuing Education Credits (CECs) by either the Canadian Sleep Society (CSS) or American Association of Sleep Technologists (AAST).
The course is conducted by: Pintu Bhuiya, MBBS, RPSGT, RST, Nada Huterer, MD* (B&H). Other instructors involved are: Prof Dr. Colin Shapiro, BSc, MBBCh, PhD, MRCPsych, FRCPC; Inna Voloh, MD* (Russia), RPSGT; Naheed K. Hossain, MBBS, RPSGT; Dragana Jovanovic, BSc, RPSGT; Yulia Kaushansky, BSc, RPSGT, RST; Sharon Chung, PhD.
*Not licensed in Ontario
Fall session of Polysomnography Course will start in September 2016.

Research Trainee Sessions
These sessions are open to all individuals who would like to know more about research practices and techniques. Featured sessions include:
- How to write a research proposal
- Research Ethics: how to obtain and discussions about ethics in research
- How to write a review paper
- How to write a book chapter
- How to write a clinical case report
- Critical thinking and appraisal
Friday Sleep Rounds
The Friday morning rounds occurs on the 3rd, 4th and 5th (if applicable) Friday of each month. Members of the clinic and industry partners present on various topics including:
- Clinical case presentations
- Technical issues related to conducting sleep assessments
- Research findings as related to sleep medicine
- New equipment and/or innovations from industry
- Hands-on experience with mask fitting and use of CPAP equipment
Province-Wide Sleep Rounds
These rounds are held on the first Friday of each month. Each 2-hour session focuses on specific themes related to sleep medicine and features 3 experts in their field. Past and Future Province-Wide Rounds themes include:
- Sleep-Related Breathing Disorders
- Sleep in Head Injury
- Occupational Medicine and Sleep
- Restless Legs Syndrome
- Central Sleep Apnea
- Sleep and Depression
Once yearly in April, in lieu of the Province-Wide Sleep Rounds, we have a day-long Pediatric Sleep Rounds. Last year's Pediatric Sleep Day was an overwhelming success. Over 100 physicians, affiliated clinicians, sleep technicians and educational professionals attended. This year's Pediatric Sleep Rounds will feature 10 speakers. Our keynote speakers, Drs. David and Leila Gozal, are from the University of Chicago and are world-recognized experts in pediatric sleep medicine.
