Dr. Sharon Ann-Marie Chung

Sharon Ann-Marie Chung is a Staff Scientist at the University Health Network, Department of Psychiatry, Sleep Research Unit. She obtained her Doctorate Degree in Physiology from the University in Toronto and did her Post-Doctoral training in Biomedical Engineering.

Dr. Chung has been conducting research for over 20 years. Her initial work focused on obtaining a better understanding of the functioning of biological oscillators in the context of central and peripheral neural networks. Dr. Chung joined the University Health Network in 1995 immediately after completing her Post-Doctoral studies and began working in the field Clinical Sleep Research.

Dr. Chung has worked as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Toronto in the Department of Physiology and has co-supervised students and clinical fellows. Dr. Chung is the recipient of several research grants, both past and present, and she has 21 publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Chung co-organizes the weekly Neuropsychiatry Rounds, the monthly Province-Wide Sleep Rounds, the weekly Friday morning Sleep Rounds and she has worked on the organizing committee of several international and local conferences.

Dr. Chung has been featured in the National Post newspaper, has been an advisor for several magazine articles (Men’s Health Magazine, HomeMakers’ Magazine, Readers’ Digest) and has given television (CTV News) and radio (CKLW Radio, Windsor) interviews.
